FACILITIES

Centre for Hip Health and Mobility

All research takes place at the Centre for Hip Health and Mobility (CHHM), a $30 million research centre at the Vancouver General Hospital.  The Centre houses the world’s only open Paramed MROpen scanner dedicated to research use, which is central to the lab’s research.

More broadly, the CHHM is home to investigators from 5 clinical and 3 technical departments and hosts a trainee environment specifically designed to encourage interaction between trainees with different backgrounds.

Upright Open MRI

Research using the scanner is supported by a full-time director, an imaging research scientist, a MR physicist and research technologists, a team that is essential to ensuring optimal image quality and productivity.

The Paramed MROpen scanner is a key part of the MRI Research Hub, a cluster of four scanners in Vancouver dedicated to research.

Our research is supported by the UBC MRI Research Centre.
